The MND Institute for Military History Compilation (IMHC) recently published a booklet titled ’60 Years of the ROK-US Alliance’ which analyzes and summarizes the history of the past 60 years of the ROK-US Alliance.
 The MND held a ceremony hosted by Deputy Minister for Policy Lim, Kwan Bin to congratulate the publication of the booklet, which is a part of the ten commemorative projects of the 60th anniversary of the ROK-US Alliance.
 The MND stated, “This year is special in that it marks the 60th anniversary of the signing of the ROK-US Mutual Defense Treaty. The publication of ’60 Years of the ROK-US Alliance’ will contribute to building the public’s trust and spreading the consensus on the ROK-US Alliance as it analyzes and summarizes the history and value of the Alliance in an academic manner.” 
This booklet is unique in that it categorizes the 60 years of the ROK-US Alliance into four periods including the foundation period, growth period, strengthening period, and development period, and focuses on the progress and achievements of the Alliance mainly in the field of military and security. The IMHC explained, “The direction that we took in publishing this booklet was to aggressively assess the contribution made by the Alliance, to strengthen the cooperation and exchanges between the ROK and the U.S., and to support the advancement of the ROK-US Alliance.”
