Although the Korean and Peloponnesian wars were separated by centuries as well as by major cultural and technological differences, they also share similarities geographic, ideological, rhetorical, moral, and political. McCann (Harvard) and Strauss (Cornell) have gathered chapters that compare the dimensions of these two conflicts to shed light on issues such as why societies go to war, what happens when they do, and what factors make war occur or might lead to outcomes other than armed conflict.
