Many of the chapters of this book were presented at the “History of education and language in late Chosôn and Colonial-era Korea Workshop", held at Kyushu University on February 20, 2016. Funding for the conference was provided by Kyushu University, in cooperation with the Center for Asia-Pacific Future Studies, and the Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Global Society. Papers were presented in English, Japanese, and Korean. Likewise, papers in all three languages are presented in this collection.
